WELCOME !

Welcome to Insights from Tampa 2012.  I have created this blog to give everyone an "inside look" as to what goes on at a Republican National Convention.  The content will cover not only the speakers and the convention activities, but also the parties, the media and the protesters where possible :)

This blog will focus on the Michigan delegation.  I created a similar blog in 2008 when I was a guest at The Republican National Convention in Minneapolis Minnesota.  This time around I am an Alternate Delegate to Ronna Romney McDaniel (Mitt's Niece).  Enjoy!

About the Author:

Tom Stroup is currently the Chairman of the 11th Congressional District Republican Committee (Michigan).  His term expires in January 2012.  Previously he served as Secretary of the Wayne 11th Congressional District Republican Committee.

He entered politics in 2001 following the "hanging chads fiasco" from November of 2000.  He decided he could not sit by any longer and had to get involved.  In early 2001 he walked into a Redford Republican Club meeting (not knowing anyone in the room) and that began the road to where he is today.

He has volunteered on numerous campaigns over the past 12 years from local races up to and including the last 2 Presidential elections (Bush & McCain).

He also owns a small business in Livonia Michigan: Valaset Services LLC.  The company helps organizations who wish to sell and/or recycle their old computer equipment, phone systems and cell phones.  He often jokes that he is a Conservative Republican Environmentalist.

He lives with his wife Cindy in Northville Township Michigan.
